The Groundwater Traderoom lists offers pertaining to groundwater. The sale of groundwater water entitlements, licences and Water Shares can be traded freely by any interested party.
Licences such as Take & Use, may require the buyer to meet certain criteria via an eligibility assessment. By accepting a sell offer, the buyer will be notified of the trade match and will be advised of next steps in the process to complete the transaction.
Please note, transfer of groundwater between zones is regulated, and for the most part can only be transferred within the same zone.
History of trades and prices
There is currently a limited amount of price information for groundwater (or take and use licence) trades. All groundwater trades conducted through the Southern Rural Water Exchange groundwater traderoom will be added to our Recent Trades table on this page (below).
Recent trades and prices for groundwater throughout Victoria can be accessed via the Victorian Water Register by visiting Take & Use License Trading and using the ‘License trading history’ tool at the bottom of the page. This could be used as a guide for those wanting to set a price for their groundwater.
